CONSERVE WATER NOTICE IN EFFECT
Hey, Grey District! Our water supplies are feeling the heat—literally. With warm, dry weather sticking around, rivers and creeks are running low, and demand is high. So, all Council-operated water supplies are still under a Conserve Water Notice.
This notice applies to residents in:
Greymouth, Cobden, Blaketown, Boddytown, Karoro, South Beach, Paroa, Kaiata, Dobson, Taylorville, Stillwater, Runanga, Dunollie, Coal Creek, Rapahoe & Blackball.
Runanga Water Supply saw particularly low reservoir levels before Waitangi Day. Our team and contractors have been working hard to locate and repair leaks, with several large ones already fixed.
The Greater Greymouth Water Treatment Plant is operating in low river mode, drawing water from three bores instead of two to reduce pressure on individual sources.
How you can help:
If you spot a leak, report it ASAP by calling 03 769 8600 or using the Snap Send Solve app. Repairs will be prioritised based on urgency.
Keep showers short, fix those drippy taps , and maybe rethink that water balloon fight!
We appreciate your efforts — thank you for helping to keep our water supply flowing!
