The
required pipework for the new intake gallery arrived to Greymouth yesterday,
Wednesday 12 July. This marks a significant milestone in the planning towards
installing the new intake gallery. The photos show the
pipework and specialised stainless steel mesh screen.
Following
recent wet weather, Council has had limited opportunities to take water from
Blackball Creek. The untreated water storage bladders on site currently sit at
59% full.
Work
to finalise and test the gravel mix/material to be used around the new intake
pipework is ongoing and we expect to complete this next week. Rock work is already on site and ready for installation.
Weather
forecasts continue to be monitored, which will aid in determining a start date.
Our contractor does need a settled period of weather to undertake the work in
Blackball Creek, of approximately 5-7 days. More detail around likely start
dates will be provided to the community in next week’s update.
