Grey District Council is excited to continue the Mayor’s Taskforce for Jobs Community Employment programme for another two years.
The Mayors Taskforce for Jobs programme has secured $10 million in funding from Central Government for the first year and $8 million for the second year. This funding is split across 35 rural districts, including the Grey District.
Grey District Council will receive $325,000 in funding for year one and will be allocated funding for year two in the future.
Since the programme started in September 2020, Mayors Taskforce for Jobs has been hugely successful in supporting many people into employment with local businesses:
- 226 placements into employment
- 105 apprentices in employment
- 119 local employers involved
We’re so pleased to see everyone thriving and gaining skills in their jobs.
The focus for the next year will be on supporting youth aged 16 – 24 into employment and on supporting disadvantaged people of any age into employment.
Mayors Taskforce for Jobs funding can be put towards a variety of things you may need for your job, including training, tools or equipment.
Maybe you’re finishing school and will be looking for a job, or would like to get into an apprenticeship to learn a trade and increase your skills.
If you’d like to have a chat about whether you might be eligible for funding, or are looking for employment options, Serena and Carrie would love to hear from you. Visit our Mayor's Taskforce for Jobs page for more information and to get in touch.
