Grey District Council expresses concern around Taylorville Landfill

​Grey District Council has become increasingly concerned about the potential future effects of a private landfill located above the Coal Creek water supply intake on the Taylorville Road site.

​Blackball Water Supply Update

The settled weather has allowed us to take better quality water from Blackball Creek, since late last week. Both of the bladders on site holding untreated water are sitting at 88% full, as of today.

Yesterday, Council became aware of the presence of discoloured water in the Blackball Water Supply network. As a result of identifying this issue, the following actions were taken:

Slipway officially opened

​Today Grey District Council celebrated the opening of the Slipway shed. Mayor Tania Gibson led the celebrations alongside Joe Mason of Te o Rūnanga Ngāti Wae Wae who provided the karakia.

Boil Water Notice - Blackball Water Supply

Grey District Council has issued a Boil Water Notice for all consumers on the Blackball Water Supply commencing 3 May 2023 until further notice.

Traffic management - Saturday 13 May 2023

There will be traffic management in place around the district on Saturday 13 May for the South Island Ultra Marathon.

There will be a planned water shutdown on the 1st & 3rd of May, affecting some properties in Greymouth.
