Lime dosing system work - April 10 to 12 2024
Lime dosing system work April 10 - 12 2024 | GREATER GREYMOUTH WATER TREATMENT PLANT
Council is undertaking repairs and the partial replacement of the lime dosing system at the Greymouth Water Treatment Plant this week.
The lime dosing system needs to be turned off to enable the work to be completed. As a result, the pH of drinking water will be lower than normal.
This will affect all consumers connection to the supply in Greymouth, Cobden, Coal Creek, Blaketown, Boddytown, Karoro, South Beach, Paroa, Runanga, Dunollie, Rapahoe, Omoto, Kaiata, Dobson, Taylorville and Stillwater.
Under normal circumstances supplied drinking water is within the pH range of 7.4 - 7.6. Over the next few days, the pH will likely be between 6.2 - 6.4.
If you use supplied water to dilute, mix or wash a substance, chemical or product that is sensitive to pH levels, please make the necessary adjustments.
The pH adjustment system at the Water Treatment Plant is likely to be running again by Friday 12 April. We will update you again once the work is completed and systems are operational.
Thank you for your understanding while the work is completed.
