Reading with Mrs Higgins | Tuesdays, 3pm to 4pm |
Mrs Higgins who comes to the Library on Tuesday afternoons with her owner Katie Shannon, and is available for children to read aloud to her. Research has shown that children can increase in reading confidence when reading aloud to a dog - the dog doesn't put any pressure on the reader and creates a non-judgmental audience "dogs listen attentively, do not laugh, judge or criticise (and) allow children to proceed at their own pace". | |
Storytime | Thursdays, 10am to 10.30am (during term time) |
A relaxed and fun session of stories, rhymes, songs, and dancing for pre-schoolers. All welcome. |
SPECIAL EVENTS
Interactive Community Challenge
When: during the entire month of January.
What: You will find a giant Battleship grid near the Service Desk.
Each week, you will have the opportunity to earn torpedoes and try to sink the ships hidden in the grid by completing one of the three challenges proposed.
But! You will need to complete the challenge you've chosen and claim your torpedo(es) before others do so as the number of torpedoes available will be limited each week!
Game rules:
- You can only complete one challenge each week to earn torpedoes to try to sink the ships. Choose wisely!
- You have to fire all your torpedoes at once before we reveal if you hit any of the ships.
- All hits & misses will be displayed on the grid for everyone to see.
- Each time you make a hit, you will gain an entry into the prize draw.
