Earlier in the year, the Grey District Council
released concept plans for the redevelopment of the town entrances. The new
concept plans are designed to make them more inviting for visitors to our
district as well as create a space for our residents to be proud of.
We can now provide an update to announce work
will begin before Christmas, Council’s contractor Paul Smith Earthmoving has
begun submitting Health and Safety Plans, Traffic Management Plans and will
begin establishing the site before the Christmas break. This part of the
project is reasonably detailed due to the proximity of the roundabout and train
tracks. Health and safety is a major focus for all involved.
Mayor Tania Gibson said “I am excited to see
this project getting traction, the CBD forum has been working hard behind the
scenes to make this happen. The entrances are expected to be completed by March
2022. I can’t wait to see the finished product; it’s going to be great for our
district”.
Due to the site being established, Council
would like to advise residents that parking in the area will not be possible
and would like to thank residents in advance for their cooperation.
