Update 10/02/22 13:00
Road Closed - Golf Links Road due to the high river level.
Gows Creek Road, Nelson Creek is closed due to a slip - our contractor is working on this, we are expecting this to be open tonight.
All other local roads in our district are open.
Please Note: Our update does not include the State Highways. Please refer to the NZTA website for more information prior to travelling.
Contractors are busy cleaning out blocked sumps and culverts and have staff on standby should the flood action plan require our response while the river levels are still high.
Moving forward, our priority will be to re-establish damaged drains and entranceways, particularly on Maori Gully Rd, bring damaged unsealed roads back to an acceptable standard, Omoto Valley Rd, No Name Rd and continue to tidy up flood debris around Greymouth.
Key Messages:
Contractors have been busy overnight, responding to incidents and will continue to monitor the roads and infrastructure around our district.

Leonard Street
Preston Road between Swift Street & Steer Ave and Lower Blake Street
Wickes Street

The heavy rain has resulted in a lot of activity on the state highways with many slips causing flooding and road closures, caution is advised. We recommend checking the NZTA website here before travelling on the state highways.
We are continuing to monitor the Grey River which is running high. The Flood Action Plan has been activated and the team will be monitoring the situation. We will provide further updates as new information comes to hand.
