Rough weather across the South Island and huge swells are expected along South West Coast.
MetService has issued a heavy swell alert for all of the South Island's west coast.
people travelling near the coast up the western side of New Zealand should be careful on or near the water.
People are advised to keep up to date on marine and weather forecasts, and to also be aware heavy rain could cause swollen rivers, surface flooding and slips.

Grey District Council staff are out in the community and responding to conditions across the district.
