COVID-19 has been impacting staff at WRC & the Grey District Library
A second wave of COVID-19 has been impacting staff at Westland Recreation Centre (WRC) and the Grey District Library. The WRC and Library may need to consider reducing hours if safe staffing levels are unable to be maintained.
Currently, quite a few staff members are off work but the remaining team have been working hard to keep facilities running and open to the community.
It is possible that operating hours could be reduced, with the Westland Recreation Centre being closed for the mornings. This would allow us to open from 1 pm to 9 pm which would mean winter sports activities and high user peak times would not be affected. The Library may also need to reduce weekday hours and potentially suspend weekend hours.
We aim to stay operational and provide the same great service that we know the community enjoys. While we are working hard to keep our facilities open, we need to maintain safe staffing levels so as a last resort we may need to close temporarily.
We ask the community to bear with us, have patience, to please be kind to our staff who are doing their best during these trying times.
Help us keep our community safe, if you are unwell, please stay home, practise good hygiene, wear a mask, and maintain social distancing. Do your best to reduce the spread.
