Blackball Water Supply Update
Council is progressing discussions with key partners to work through additional consenting requirements for the installation of the new intake gallery pipework. The additional consenting is required to fully divert the flow of Blackball Creek, to enable a safe and efficient installation.
Recent poor weather has resulted in limited opportunities for Council to take water from Blackball Creek. Due to this, the untreated water storage levels are currently at 28% (as at Friday 18 August at 10am). However, the current weather conditions are good and allow water to be taken from Blackball Creek. This is currently occurring.
Consumers of the Blackball Water Supply are asked to be very mindful of water use in the coming days, to enable the replenishment of the untreated water storage bladders.
If bladder levels do not improve in the coming several days, water may need to be taken directly from the Creek (surface water). If surface water does need to be taken directly from the Creek, Council will need to put in place a precautionary boiled water notice.
Residents and businesses should keep a close eye on Council’s social media pages and website, to be up to date with the water supply conditions.
Council thanks the Blackball community for their ongoing patience, as planning for the installation of the new intake gallery continues.
