The new intake gallery pipework has been installed! The weather window for installation was ideal and enabled installation during low river flows. The work progressed well and was completed as planned. This is great news for consumers on the Blackball Water Supply.
Development of the new intake gallery commenced on Thursday 31 August and the quantity of water being received through the new intake gallery is encouraging. On Tuesday this week, the first water from the new intake gallery pipework, was introduced into the onsite untreated water storage. Storage levels at the time of this update were at 77%.
The development of the new intake gallery pipework is ongoing, as untreated water turbidity levels are still a little higher than normal. Water is being taken at present up to 1.5NTU whereas normally, water below 1.0NTU would be taken.
Daily sampling and testing is currently still ongoing and the precautionary boiled water notice and conserve water notice are still in place.
Council continues to monitor the intake gallery performance, its development and sampling of the water supply. Council will provide a further update next Friday around both the precautionary boiled water and conserve water notices.
