Building & Resource Consent Christmas processing times for 2024-2025

To ensure a Resource Consent or Building Consent is processed before Christmas, applications need to be submitted before 5pm Friday 22 November 2024 (barring any requests for further information or affected parties which stop the processing clock).

Building or Resource consents received after 5pm Friday 22 November 2024 are not guaranteed to be processed before Christmas. However, we'll do our best to ensure all complete consent applications are issued within their statutory timeframe.

The Building Act 2004 and the Resource Management Act 1991 state that the period between 20 December and 10 January each year is excluded from the 'working days count' for all timeframes. This means that any weekdays during this period will not be counted as working days.

Building Inspections

Building inspections will be completed through to 5pm Friday 20 December. Inspections should be booked in by Wednesday 18 December. Please don’t leave it until the last minute!

Inspections will reopen for bookings on Monday 6 January 2025 with the earliest inspection carried out on Wednesday 8 January 2025.

LIM Applications

To ensure a LIM is completed before Christmas, the application needs to be submitted on or before Thursday 5 December 2024.
