We are honored to share this special day with three amazing individuals who were recognized with a Civic Award at today's ceremony. We extend our warmest congratulations to you all. These people are the community legends, quiet achievers and committed volunteers who dedicate hours to the community and go above and beyond to keep the wheels turning in the background.
Friends and family gathered in Council Chambers to celebrate each recipient as they were presented with an award by Mayor Tania Gibson for their outstanding services to the community.
The 2024 recipients are:
Dave McMillian - In recognition of participation in over 50 years of volunteering in our community from the Westland Kart Club (Greymouth) Westland Car Club, Lake Brunner Yacht Club, Greymouth Aero Club, Greymouth Rotary (president) Shantytown and Gloriavale Trust.
Paul Schramm - For many services spanning 30 years including, chair of the Greymouth Heritage Trust, founding member of the Grey District/Mawhera Business and Promotions Association, Member of Greymouth Rotary, and President of the Greymouth Oldtime Dancing Club.
John Torrance - For services going back to 1975, holding positions of office for Blaketown Rugby Football Club where he is now a life member, 17 years as a Justice of the Peace, and also completed 6 years on the executive committee, long-serving member of the West Coast Amateur Sports Trust currently holding the role as deputy chair, and volunteer driver for Meals on Wheels.
