BOIL WATER NOTICE UPDATE – 17 APRIL 2025
The Boil Water Notice remains in place for the Greater Greymouth Water Supply.
Unfortunately, we are unable to lift the Boil Water Notice today, which we know will be disappointing news for many in our community.
Test results from samples taken on 15 April 2025 have been received from the lab:
• 3 total coliforms were detected in the Kaiata sample
• 2 total coliforms were detected in the Stillwater sample
• No E. coli was detected in any samples
These results were unexpected, and while they are low-level detections, we must continue strict protocols and cannot lift the notice at this stage.
In response, we are continuing increased monitoring and treatment processes as required.
We are continuing to investigate all possible causes and are doing everything we can to restore the district’s water supply to a safe standard — this remains our top priority.
Thank you again for your continued patience and understanding. We know this is frustrating, but your support is helping us get through this safely, together.
Updates will be provided daily over Easter, with the Boil Water Notice remaining in effect until at least Saturday evening, 19 April 2025.
