The Grey District Council has been working closely with the Water Services Authority - Taumata Arowai on the current BOIL WATER NOTICE, which has been in place since 9 April 2025.
Direction
has been received by Council from the Water Services Authority under the Water
Services Act 2021.
This means that Council now needs to satisfy the Water Services Authority’s direction, in addition to the three clear days of testing, before the BOIL WATER NOTICE can be lifted. Council is required by law to meet all requirements of this Direction to ensure public health.
Council will provide an update early next week on how and when it believes it can meet the requirements of the Direction received from the Water Services Authority.
Joanne Soderlund – Chief Executive, Grey District Council states
"We understand the magnitude of the Boil Water Notice on our businesses, organisations, and our community. We sincerely apologise for the disruption this has caused for all. We are working tirelessly to ensure the water supply is safe and to resolve this issue as quickly and thoroughly as possible”.
We will continue to keep the community informed and provide updates on progress as they come to hand.
