BOIL WATER NOTICE LIFTED
The boil water notice for greater Greymouth has been lifted as of 12 noon, Friday, 25 April 2025
The treatment facility was checked yesterday and this morning, and it was determined that the council now complies with the new requirements from the national water regulator.
Mayor Tania Gibson thanks everyone for their patience.
The investigation into the source of the April 8 contamination is ongoing.
The council is considering all potential areas of concern in its overall investigation.
Thank you, and enjoy your weekend.
NOTE
Run all your cold taps for a few minutes before using the water. Flush any appliances that are connected to the water supply. Hot water cylinders and header tanks may need to be drained and refilled. You may notice a strong chlorine smell in the water as it runs through. The council will increase chlorine levels for some time to disinfect the pipework.
