Council through its 2021-31 Long Term Plan committed to expanding the kerbside wheelie bin and glass crate system, currently operating in the greater Greymouth area, out to all remaining bag collection customers, in the following general areas; Stillwater, Moana, Ruru, Te Kinga, Runanga, Rapahoe, Coast Road to Punikaiki River. Blackball, Moonlight, Atarau, Dobson, Kaiata, Kaiata Park, Gladstone, Camerons and Marsden. Kamaka, Ngahere, Ahaura, Totara Flat, Waipuna and Nelson Creek.
Smart Environmental, Council’s solid waste contractor are implementing this service expansion for Council, with the delivery of new wheelie bins and glass crates. Bins will start being delivered to properties from Monday 1 August 2022.
The official start date for the new wheelie bin service will commence on the week of 8 August 2022. With the first week being a recycling collection week.
A brochure “Your Guide to Kerbside Recycling & Refuse Collection” is being delivered along with the bins, this provides information about the service, a calendar that confirms collection schedules, and a question and answer section which may help with common queries. The last week for bag collection in your area is the week starting 1 August 2022. Please put your rubbish bags out as normal during this week. Please note that a bag tie will not be required.
NOTE: Current bag ties will continue to be accepted at all Grey District landfill sites.
