Congratulations to all of this year’s Grey District Council Civic Awards recipients who attended an awards ceremony, held at Council Chambers, today.
With friends and family in attendance, each recipient was presented with an award by Mayor Tania Gibson for their outstanding services to the community.
Mary Gardner –in recognition of her services to the Paroa Tennis Club (which extends over 50 years).
Richard (John) Gilshnan – in recognition of his service to the Justices of the Peace Association for 30 years, as well as supporting a number of other organisations in our community.
Gary Hutchinson –in recognition of his service to the Blackball Domain Board and Blackball Bowling Club as well as making a huge contribution to West Coast Rugby League and for services to the Paparoa Wildlife Trust. Gary was unable to attend todays ceremony so Paul Berry accepted the award on his behalf.
John Pfeifer –in recognition for many years’ service to the Blaketown Rugby Football Club.
Patricia (Trish) Roney –in recognition of her services to many organisations and projects across the community. Most notably being the West Coast Basketball Association, West Coast Whitebaiters Association and the Kowhai Project.
Shirley Smith – in recognition for services provided to the Children of Cobden After School Club which she has run for over 40 years. She has also taught Bible in School and at Sunday School also for services to the Cobden Sharing Shed Opshop and helping the residents of Granger House with crafts.
