Bad Weather is on the Way!
The region is expected to receive some significant rain tomorrow Thursday 2 February through to early next week. whilst the worst of the rain is expected to fall south of Otira we are expecting and planning for surface flooding, slips and falling trees. There may be unexpected road closures and other potential hazards please take care and drive to the conditions.
Our teams have been out in the district taking proactive measures such as ensuring sumps and gutters are clear to minimise the impacts of the expected rain.
Should surface flooding occur please drive slowly to protect properties and businesses in close proximity to the road.
At home, we recommend checking your properties gutters, downpipes and drains to ensure they are free from debris. Put the outdoor furniture away. As a precaution check your animals and ensure they are out of any potential flood zone. Hard ground doesn't soak up the rain as well as our usual moist conditions and water may take longer to disperse.
We have our contractors on standby to respond should the event escalate.
