Cyclone Gabrielle Disaster Relief
Cyclone Gabrielle has been catastrophic for communities across the North Island. The full scale of the destruction and loss may not be known for some time, however the immediate need for assistance is critical.
Here at Grey District Council, we have been gearing up to provide support. Some of our highly trained staff will be heading North to support emergency services very soon and fundraising events are being planned.
If you want to assist, here are some ways you can help.
Make a donation!
Donation boxes have been set up at the following locations:
• Grey District Council, 105 Tainui Street Greymouth
• Westland Recreation Centre
• Greymouth Library
All donations will go into the Mayoral Relief Fund and will be gifted to appropriate Support Services in the North Island.
You can donate directly to the Mayoral Relief Fund at the following account:
NBS account: 03-1354-0240591-00
The Red Cross has set up a special NZ disaster fund to help those affected by Cyclone Gabrielle and other extreme weather events. If you can, please donate to the appeal by clicking
redcross.org.nz/nz-disaster-fund. No amount is too small.
Federated Farmers are accepting bank donations to assist farmers recovery from the event.

Please be careful when making donations online and watch out for scams. Check that you are donating to a reputable organisation. If it looks dodgy it probably is!
Service providers have advised they are short of money at this stage, so please only donate cash at this time.
Note: Please do not donate personal items ie clothing, food or bedding.
We will be providing an update next week to let you all know about fundraising events and other ways to get involved and help North Island communities.
