If you wish to change the current zoning of a property or properties, or alter the provisions of the District Plan, you will need to go through the plan change process.
Plan change applications vary significantly and the Council does not provide comprehensive forms for this process. You will be required to fill out Form 6 - Plan Change Application Declaration, which should accompany all applications. This is available from the Forms page.
Consultation with Council prior to lodgement of plan change applications is very important and will help the process run smoothly. It is advisable to first liaise with Council's Policy Planner to ensure you provide all necessary information with your application. Council's Policy Planner will put you in touch with other Council departments that you will need to talk to.
Re-zoning and altering plan provisions is complex, and engaging your own planning consultant is strongly recommended before embarking on this process.
For further information on costs and processing matters, please refer to Consent charges.
If you wish to submit a query to Council's Policy Planner regarding a potential plan change, please contact the Planning Department, email planning@greydc.govt.nz or phone 03 769 8607.
