Funding rounds for the Sport New Zealand Rural Travel Fund are approximately in February and September each year.
Criteria
GDC administers this fund on behalf of Sport NZ to help reduce travel barriers for rural sports clubs and school teams. The fund provides subsidies for players aged 5 to 18 years to assist with transport expenses for local sporting competitions within our district.
Sport NZ’s Rural Travel Fund (RTF) supports young people to take part in regular sporting competition.
School club teams and sports club teams are defined as:
- A school club team participating in regular local sports competitions outside school time that excludes interschool and intraschool competitions played during school time.
- A sports club team participating in, regular sports competitions through club membership outside of school time.
The fund is not available to:
- School or club teams located outside the Grey District
- Individual players, coaches, or officials
Successful applicants must have completed and submitted an accountability report before being eligible to submit a new application.
