The 132km grade two West Coast Wilderness Trail is a four day cycling adventure which goes through dense rainforest and past glacial rivers, lakes and wetlands as the track travels from Greymouth in the north, through Kumara and Hokitika and then to Ross in the south.
'Nga Haerenga - The New Zealand Cycle Trail' is a partnership project between the Government and the Green Party. One of the ambitions for the New Zealand Cycle Trail is that it will generate economic, social and environmental benefits for communities around New Zealand.
On Saturday 23 November 2013, following tremendous hard work and fundraising by the Westland and Grey District communities, major financial sponsorship from the Government and Development West Coast, as well as valued input from many other dedicated parties, the Greymouth to Hokitika leg of the trail was officially opened.
