Pool Facilities
Check out the many great facilities you can find at the Westland Recreation Centre pool.
Pools
Lap Pool | 25 m in length, 8 lanes wide and heated to 27.5C. Depth 1.25 m to 1.64 m |
Learners Pool | 17 m length and heated to 32C. Depth 0.72 m to 0.965 m. |
Leisure Pool | 17 m length and heated to 32C. Depth 0.96 m to 1.5 m. |
Toddler Pool | Specially designed area for toddlers, the space allows children to play & experience the water in a fun environment. |
Hot tub | Heated to 38 degrees celsius for that relaxing soak. Please note that the use of the hot tub is restricted to patrons 16 years and over. |
Sauna | 75 degrees celsius. Please note that the use of the sauna is restricted to patrons 16 years and over. |
Hydroslides | Try the "Rapids" and the "Flying Coaster". |
Lanes
For those wanting to walk, kick or swim their way to fitness, the pool is structured to cater for lap swimming with two lanes available most days during group or private hire times.
Aqua-belts and noodles are available on request, only adults 1.64
Lane etiquette
- Share lanes - choose the lane for your speed.
- Keep left and swim clockwise.
- Stop only at the ends.
- No hanging on the lane ropes.
Hydroslides
Our normal operating hours for the hydroslides are:
Monday, Wednesday and Friday | 3.30pm to 6.30pm |
Saturday | 11am to 4.30pm |
Sunday | 11am to 4.30pm |
School holidays | 11am to 4.30pm |
Public holidays | 11am to 4pm |
Age restrictions
Please note the following age restrictions for the hydroslides:
- Children under five years old are not allowed on the hydroslides.
- Children aged five, six or seven years old must be accompanied and held onto by a caregiver aged 16 years or older, and adults, over 1.2 metres tall.
- Children aged eight years old and over are to ride the hydroslide by themselves.
Parental supervision at the pool
We want our little users to be safe at all times when using our facility so please note the following:
- Children under eight (8) years old must be actively supervised by a parent/caregiver 16 years or older.
- Children under five (5) years old must be with a parent/caregiver 16 years or older in the pool and must be within arm's reach of their parent/caregiver at all times.
- Both children and adults need to wear identifying yellow bands

Changing rooms
There are male and female change rooms available, as well as three family rooms and one wheelchair/disabled changing room.
Preschooler swimwear
It is Centre policy that all preschoolers aged 3 and under must wear protective swimwear, eg Little Swimmers.
